Are You Pregnant? Use Natural Ingredients To Reduce The Risk Of ...

Before you have a day out at yet another beauty salon to get a manicure and applying Jungle red polish, don?t forget to think about a new report from the US watch dog Environmental Working Group (EWG).

According, to the EWG, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is used to aid the nail polish form an even film while it dries and are present inside the great majority of nail polish products in the marketplace ? that can produce serious risks, especially for women who are pregnant.

DBP was contained in every personal test for the compound by the Centre for disease Control in Washington in 2000. Government researchers speculate that elevated levels of DBP among women of childbearing age derive from cosmetics and attractive beauty products, announced the report lead author.

DBP can adversely affect the reproductive cycle in women in addition to men, lowering sperm counts and impacting the male hormone, androgen.

Tests have indicated that DBP can enter the body via inhalation and every time your polished nails come in contact with water, a touch of DBP is released upon exposure to water and may be absorbed and distributed around your body via the skin.

Inside the United Sates the cosmetics and beauty products are not considered a food or drug so they are certainly not subjected to the Food and Drug administration for public safety. The chemical based cosmetics and beauty industry is usually a protective and powerful lobby, and while it continues to maintain that DBP in products is safe for human use. It remains up to the independent researchers to provide proof of the opposite.

But wisdom should prevail in relation to the consumer. Avoid entering nail salons should you be pregnant or have a weakened level of immunity those fumes are at adequate levels to be a constant reminder to everyone that caution needs to be adhered to.

To overcome the fear of accidentally exposing yourself and your unborn baby to toxic chemicals is to avoid them all in the first place. This may sound like a night mare to do but there are ways around this. One major way of avoiding chemicals is to read the labels and find out what is inside the bottle you are about to put on your skin.

The natural and organic industry prides itself on the fact that there are no chemicals or limited amounts of substitution ingredients being put into their product. By this I mean, you need to have preservatives in products otherwise they would go off and have a very short shelf life. The manufactures add preservatives but they may not be a natural ingredient from the earth itself, but a harmless synthetic that does the same job. You have to be realistic here, not everything in a bottle can be fresh, otherwise we might as well go out to the garden and grind up some plant matter and apply that to our skin daily.

Over the years, some people actually do this, but if you?re not into doing this and prefer to have the luxury of having it pre-made in a bottle, then we need to educate ourselves about the ingredients. Read the Environmental Working Group website for ingredient safety and make your own decision.
