Top of the List: New Mexico homebuilders

The Business Weekly?s Aug. 31 print edition lists the top 18 New Mexico homebuilders by the number of full-time employees.

The list also includes data on the average price of homes sold in 2011 and the number of homes sold in 2011.

See the top five homebuilders by clicking here.

The Business Weekly asked the homebuilders what challenges they?ve faced recently. Here are some responses:

?The increased regulation on government-backed loans makes it increasingly difficult for buyers to qualify.? - Raylee Homes: A New Generation

?It?s always a challenge to locate all of the required resources (personnel, financing and vendors) when you?re starting construction on twice as many homes as you?re closing. Growth can be a problem, but it?s a good problem to have.? -Abrazo Homes

?We are challenged with rising costs, while at the same time meeting client goals for lower-priced homes. We?ve been meeting that challenge by value-engineering our homes during the design process and by working with vendors who agree to negotiate their costs through our builder purchasing co-op.? --New Haven Homes Inc.
